Job hunting schedule in Japan (in case of university students)

“Internships release” In June of the third year of university.
Companies offer internships to those third grade students. The internships are usually one day long or one week long, while there are also internships that last more than one month; programs are also different according to companies. You may grasp an image of the job by observing the atmosphere of the company and the employees. Participate actively, because it’s useful for industry circle research and self-analysis, too.

“Participate in company information sessions and seminars” In mid-March of the third year of university.
Company information sessions and seminars organized by companies will begin around March.
Although it is called “company information session”, sometimes there might be written tests and interviews at the same time as well as limit to the number of participants. So please check the employment website carefully so that you won’t miss it.

“Written tests and interviews officially begin” In late March of the third year of university.
Written tests and interviews are important parts of the selection and might begin at any time after the ending of company information sessions and seminars.
A written test usually consists of simple calculation, questions about current affairs of Japan and aptitude test. In addition, in most cases, there are several rounds of interviews.

In June of the fourth year of university ~ “Nainaitei notice”
Nainaitei (informal offers of employment) is not very different from Naitei (formal offer of employment) in substance. But Nainaitei is often conveyed in oral form or by E-mail; there are few cases of written form. Japanese companies often hold Naiteishiki, (Job Offer Ceremonies), on October 1st, in which you will receive your official Naitei certificate. You have to get the information of Naiteishiki.
